Valley Covenant Preschool has provided fun, learning and socialization with a Christian emphasis for over 25 years. The Preschool is open to all 3 to 5 year old children in the area. Maximum class size is 20 with a staff to student ratio of 1 to 10. | ||||||||||||

 Jill Huber Preschool Director & Teacher - Upstairs |
Jill Huber has been Preschool Director of Valley Covenant Preschool since the fall of 1990. Jill is a native of Stillman Valley, she graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1979. She has a BA in Elementary Education from Illinois Wesleyan University, class of 1983. Before coming to Valley Covenant Preschool, Jill taught Kindergarten for 5 years. Jill has been a member of Valley Evangelical Covenant Church since 1989 where she volunteers as the camp booster coordinator for Harbor Point Ministries. She also volunteers as a youth leader for Jr. and Sr. High students. |
| Jill is married to Bill and they have five children between them. Jill has a daughter, and twin sons; Bill has a daughter, a son and 2 granddaughters. Jill is the Meridian Youth Basketball Board as secretary. She keeps very busy attending her children's activities. | |
 Deanne Holmertz Teacher Assistant Upstairs |
Deanne Holmertz has been working at Valley Covenant Preschool since 1992. She has a BA in Contemporary Christian Ministries from Fresno Pacific College, and has been working with children for over 25 years. She is currently the Sunday School teacher for the 4 & 5 year old class here at Valley Evangelical Covenant Church where she also sings in the choir. Deanne has been married to Don since 1979 and they have 2 children. Beth graduated from North Park University (2004)in Chicago where she rowed on their first ever crew team. Brian graduated from Stillman Valley High School (2004) where he played Varsity Soccer, percussion in the band and sang in the accapella choir, madrigals and men's ensemble. |

Mrs. Carlson, better known as "Cookie", has been a Certified Teacher's Aide at Valley Covenant Preschool for five years. She got her certification from the University of Wisconsin in Platteville, WI. She worked for the Meridian School District for several years at Highland and at Monroe Center before joining staff here. Cookie, coming from Rockford, married a Stillman Valley boy, Roger Carlson, over 35 years ago. They have two daughters, Kristy and Karleen, who both attended preschool here. Kristy, their oldest, was in one of the first classes of Valley Covenant Preschool 27 years ago. She and Todd have three daughters, with the youngest one attending Valley Covenant this year. |
| Cookie has been a member of Valley Covenant church for over 35 years, having been active in teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, serving on church boards and the old Covenant Women's Group. | |
 Paula Ravn Director Assistant |
Paula Ravn recently joined our staff in fall of 2003. Her job description is being written as we go, but her focus is to assist Jill with administrative tasks and to "fill in the gaps" where needed. She has a BA in Communication Design (graphic arts) and Religion from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. Paula has a deep desire to serve Christ by using her creative gifts and talents to serve others and glorify God. She volunteers her time designing and maintaining this web site and leading worship through music. |
| She also assists her husband Chris with youth ministry (Jr. & Sr. High students) here at Valley Evangelical Covenant Church by creating flyers, posters and newsletters. Paula has been married to Chris since May of 1999. They live next door to the church which makes it convenient to get to work! They desire to settle here in Stillman Valley and raise up children to know the Lord. Paula loves children of all ages, but especially enjoys 3, 4 and 5 year olds. Paula's love of children, creative talents and enthusiasm for organization makes her a good fit on staff here at Valley Covenant Preschool. | |

| To enroll your child in Preschool a non-refundable $60.00 Registration fee and first months tuition is due. The following forms need to be completed and returned with all the signatures as needed. Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to access these files. If you are unable to print them out, please contact Jill Huber (645-8882) and she will mail them to you. | ||
* For students who were in the program last year, we will keep your child's records on file. We will ask you to update our records at the open house in the fall. New students need to complete all required forms. ** Medical forms and DCFS verification of receipt do not need to be turned in until your child's first day of school. Please make sure that all immunizations are up to date and medical forms are completely filled out. Please ask your physician about the TB skin test, this is required by DCFS to place your child in our facility. If your physician does not feel that the test is needed at this time he/she must attach a note stating that the child is not at risk. Fee Policies
Each student is asked to bring two items at the beginning of the year for the classes to share throughout the year. All other supplies are furnished. If your child has a summer birthday, (before Sept. 1st) you may want to read the book, Summer Children: Ready or Not for School, by James K. Uphoff, June E. Gilmore, and Rosemarie Huber. There are excepts from this book in the following article, "Ready or Not?" This may help you make a decision about when to start preschool or if you want to put your child in two or three years of preschool. If you are wondering which class would be best for your child, please call Jill Huber 645-8882. | ||
