DIRECTOR OF STUDENT MINISTRY
Overview
A part time ministry staff position responsible for overseeing and developing Christian formation and discipleship for students grades 6-12 and collaborating with the lead pastor/staff.
Responsibilities for Student Ministry (Grades 6 – 12)
- Shape the vision and provide leadership for Valley Covenant Church’s Student Ministry
- Recruit and develop adult leaders
- Create biblically based and culturally relevant teachings that are age appropriate
- Build relationships with the students and provide pastoral care for them
- Communicate with parents & families and coordinate a monthly calendar with the larger church body
- Connect with the Central Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church (i.e.: CHIC, camps, retreats, youth workers connection and collegiality with other youth leaders)
- Oversee events that foster spiritual, emotional, and intellectual development and maturity including, but not limited to; opportunities to learn and follow Jesus, serve, and participate in outreach events
- Collaborate and communicate with Student Ministry Team
- Oversee and manage the Student Ministry Budget
- Incorporate youth into the overall life of the Valley Covenant Church
Qualifications
- Committed follower of Jesus Christ with ministry experience
- Bachelor’s degree(or in process)
- Master’s degree (preferred but not required) in Christian Formation or Bible/Theology or a Master of Divinity degree
- Licensed or ordained (preferred but not required) in the Evangelical Covenant Church
Accountability
- Accountable to Interim Lead Pastor in conjunction with the Leadership Team
- Reports directly to Interim Lead Pastor
- Perform other responsibilities as requested by Interim Lead Pastor
